FAQs

What is Costume Camp?

Costume Camp is a community of misfits, mess-wranglers, and dreamers who believe that costumes — when shared, recycled, and lovingly restored — can turn a field into a festival and a stranger into a star.

We’ve been showing up with racks full of joy at Nowhere and beyond since 2010, fueled by cheesy toasties, spontaneous generosity, and really mediocre labeling systems.

Why do we fundraise?

We're a small camp with big camp energy.

Bigger Nowhere camps fund their infrastructure costs through camp fees. Not us. We keep the team small, and we don't even provide them a place to sleep. It's just free-camping, costume-slinging, and booty-shaking until we pack up and leave, so we can't be charging them more ;-)

That's why we rely on your donations to cover the costs of:

  • Year-round costume storage, washing and upkeep
  • Transport and infrastructure for camp events, e.g. shipping container, build materials, generator costs, barrio camp fees
  • Maintaining decor and lighting after years of desert exposure
  • Cheesy toasties to keep crew alive

Who should donate?

Anyone who believes in what we do. You don’t have to attend Nowhere or wear neon tights to become a member (though we support it).

If you've ever been a part of the CCC crew at Nowhere, we'd really appreciate your annual support.

If you've ever worn one of our costumes, or danced your tits off at one of our parties, or strutted your stuff on our catwalk...please also consider helping us out!

What do you get?

  • Quarterly updates with stories, photos, and behind-the-scenes chaos
  • Invitations to help out, connect locally, or just peek into the madness
  • The ability to vote in official Costume Camp Associación decisions
  • A warm fuzzy feeling that this thing exists thanks to you

What's the deal with this annual subscription?

The Problem: we suck at fundraising.

Every year we suddenly remember we need to raise funds to pay for all the shenanigans.

So we try really hard to organize fundraising parties, which usually break-even and leave us exhausted. Then, with Nowhere approaching, we just start blasting our friends with little crowdfunding campaigns to pay for cocktails, decor, etc. Sometimes it's enough.

Then Nowhere happens. Then we forget again.

The Solution: Regular small amounts from more people.

If we can get our extended family and friends to chip in like €25 each year, then we can spend our time and energy on making events FUN instead of profitable. Which is what we're actually good at.
